Sri Venkateswara Temple (Tirumala Temple)

This iconic temple dedicated to Lord Venkateswara (Balaji) is one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in the world, frequented by over 50,000 pilgrims daily. Nestled atop Tirumala Hills, the 16.2-acre complex features intricate Dravidian architecture and gold-plated sanctums. The famous Tirupati laddoo (sweet) given as a prasad (auspicious take-away for devotees) at the temple, has a geographical indication tag, which means it can only be made and sold at the temple and is generally included in the paid darshan tickets or can be bought from counters inside the complex. Many devotees tonsure their heads as an offering to Lord Venkateswara Swamy, once their wish is fulfilled.

Located in Srinivasa Mangapuram, this temple is another significant pilgrimage spot, equally renowned for its architecture. Dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, it is believed to bestow blessings for marital harmony. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) trust offers a deeply spiritual ceremony called Veda Aseervachanam, where Vedic priests recite mantras for the well-being of devotees. Chandragiri Fort

This 17th-century monument built during the Vijayanagara Empire is perched atop Chandragiri Hill (Moon Mountain) named after Chandra, the moon god. It features impressive architecture, sprawling gardens and a museum showcasing ancient artefacts. Apart from eight temples (in ruins) dedicated to Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu, you can visit the Raja Mahal (King’s Palace) and Rani Mahal (Queen’s Palace). Adbhuta Rupavani, a light and sound show conducted in the evening, narrates the fort’s history.
