Tucked into the Western Ghats of Maharashtra, Mahabaleshwar is defined by laterite plateaus, deep valleys and a network of historic viewpoints developed during the British era. Known as the source of the Krishna River, the hill station spans vantage points such as Arthur’s Seat and Wilson Point, alongside strawberry farms, ancient temples and mist-laden forest trails.
Often referred to as the ‘Queen of All Points’ in Mahabaleshwar, Arthur's Seat was named after Sir Arthur Malet, a British officer historically associated with the site. It overlooks Savitri Valley, where on clear days the stark contrast between the barren Deccan plateau and the lush Konkan region is visible. The point is also known for its laterite rocks, which appear to float on water due to their porous structure.
