The city’s most recognised landmark, located on the waterfront at Apollo Bunder at the end of Chhatrapati Shivaji Marg in South Mumbai, overlooks the Arabian Sea. The 85 feet high basalt triumphal arch, showcasing Indo-Saracenic architecture, was built to commemorate the 1911 visit of King George V and Queen Mary to India.​

GATEWAY OF INDIA

Formerly known as Victoria Terminus, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a stunning example of Victorian Gothic Revival architecture blended with Indian influences. Built in 1887 to commemorate the Queen’s golden jubilee, it now serves as the bustling headquarters of the city's impressive central railway system where millions of people gather every day to travel to different destinations throughout India.

CHHATRAPATI SHIVAJI MAHARAJ TERMINUS

Housed in a grand neoclassical building, the Asiatic Society boasts a vast collection of rare manuscripts, books and artefacts, making it a haven for literature and history enthusiasts. This iconic Mumbai landmark - one of the oldest literary societies of the nation - was the most important centre for literary events in the 19th and 20th centuries, a place where intellectuals would meet and confer.

ASIATIC SOCIETY OF MUMBAI

Formerly known as the Victoria and Albert Museum, Mumbai’s first museum was established as a repository of natural history. After years of pioneering, painstaking restoration by the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage, it emerged in its present, magnificent avatar as one of the nation’s finest museums, named after a late patron. Browse its permanent exhibition for insights into the history of Mumbai and keep an eye out for visiting contemporary art shows.

DR. BHAU DAJI LAD MUSEUM

A modern engineering marvel, this 5.6-kilometre-long, arc-shaped, cable-stayed landmark bridge over the Arabian Sea, brilliantly emphasizing Mumbai’s skyline,  remains one of India’s most ambitious infrastructure projects. Commonly known as Bandra Worli Sea Link, it offers a swift connection between the districts of Bandra in the western suburbs and Worli in South Mumbai ever since it was completed in 2009, reducing an earlier 45 minute travel time to just eight minutes.

RAJIV GANDHI SEA LINK

A modern landmark destination in the heart of Mumbai, spread over an area of 18.5 acres, this luxury business, entertainment  and cultural hub features high-end boutiques, gourmet dining, movie theatres, stand-up shows, busking and art installations with a regularly-updated roster of new/visiting attractions and experiences.

JIO WORLD DRIVE

An hour’s ferry ride away from Gateway of India, this UNESCO World Heritage Site, representing the pinnacle of rock cut architecture and sculptural art in medieval India, is renowned for its intricate sculptures and tranquil island setting. Of the seven caves, the main one is famous for carvings of the Hindu deity Shiva. The island hosts a two-day dance and music festival in February every year.​

ELEPHANTA CAVES

Also known as Borivali National Park, the only wildlife preserve located in a metropolitan area anywhere in the world, shelters Mumbai’s diverse wildlife and is home to the ancient Kanheri Caves, providing a natural escape within the city with its lush greenery, pristine lakes, waterfalls and scenic vistas. Delve into its rich biodiversity on a buggy tour that takes you across the Cat Orientation Centre, Taxidermy Centre and the Orchidarium.

SANJAY GANDHI NATIONAL PARK

A vast open ground flanked by the Art Deco buildings of Marine Drive on one side and the Gothic architecture of Mumbai University on the other, Oval Maidan in Churchgate has an old-world charm about it. Come here to watch people walking their pets, playing football or cricket and jogging on the 1.5 kms trail around the perimeter.

OVAL MAIDAN

Dedicated to the beloved Hindu deity of new beginnings, wisdom and luck, Lord Ganesha, Siddhivinayak Temple in Prabhadevi is one of Mumbai’s most revered sites, with ornate architecture and a spiritual aura. The 200-year old deity - worshipped and visited by devotees from across the globe - is known to  fulfill the wishes of anyone who prays at the temple with a pure, selfless heart.

SIDDHIVINAYAK TEMPLE

Central Mumbai steeped in history, Shivaji Park is a hub for cultural activities and cricket training. The area has a strong sense of community, especially among those who have lived here for generations. Come here to sample local street food, including Mumbai’s legendary vada pav (dubbed the Indian burger) which was said to have been invented right here at Ashok Vada Pav.​

SHIVAJI PARK

Located on a small islet in the Arabian Sea, Haji Ali Dargah is one of Mumbai’s most sacred landmarks. Built in 1431, this beautiful, white-domed shrine - dedicated to the memory of the saint Pir Haji Ali Shah Bukhari - blends Indo-Islamic architecture with a serene coastal setting. Accessible via a narrow causeway during low tide, the mosque seems to float on the water. Pilgrims and visitors of all faiths are drawn to its spiritual aura, intricate marble work and breathtaking views of the surrounding sea.

HAJI ALI DARGAH

Affectionately known as the Queen’s Necklace, this sweeping crescent-shaped boulevard hugging the Arabian Sea is one of Mumbai’s most cherished icons. Ideal for morning jogs, leisurely evening strolls or simply soaking in the skyline, its proximity to other landmarks like Chowpatty Beach and prominent Art Deco buildings further enhances its allure.  A monsoon stroll here is considered a romantic to-do experience on every Mumbai itinerary.​

MARINE DRIVE

Officially known as Shahid Bhagat Singh Road, this bustling street is a shopper’s delight, a food haven and a treat for heritage enthusiasts.  Built by the British in 1838 to connect the island of Colaba with the rest of Mumbai (Colaba comes from the word Kolabhat, which was the name of a fisherman’s colony that existed here), it developed into the city’s most beloved shopping district, Leopold Cafe, one of the oldest and most iconic cafes in Mumbai, established in 1871. You can find almost everything here, from the trendiest clothes and accessories to books and antiques.

Located at Lower Parel, India’s first premium luxury retail and entertainment destination is home to several retail offerings, restaurants, cafes and spas. You can shop from more than 250 premium international and Indian labels in an atmosphere of sophistication and refinement under one elegant roof.

PHOENIX PALLADIUM

NMACC is a performing arts and multi-disciplinary cultural and exhibition space that opened in 2023. Centred around the ‘Fountain of Joy’, it is home to three performing arts spaces, a sprawling 2000-seater Grand Theatre, the technologically advanced 250-seater Studio Theatre and the dynamic 125-seater Cube. In addition, the centre features The Art House, a four-storey dedicated visual arts space. Come here to view the marvellous curated exhibits and check their calendar for travelling shows and dazzling performances.​

NITA MUKESH AMBANI CULTURAL CENTRE (NMACC)

Situated atop a small hill at an elevation of 262 feet, Basilica of Our Lady of the Mount is Mumbai’s most famous Roman Catholic church, with a 16th century statue of Virgin Mary protected inside. A revered destination for Mumbaikars of all faiths, it is the site for the annual lively Bandra Fair held each September to celebrate the Nativity of Mother Mary.
