Kumbhalgarh is famed for its imposing fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with one of the longest walls in the world. Surrounded by the Aravalli hills, the region offers scenic beauty alongside historic significance. Wildlife sanctuaries and rural landscapes further enhance its appeal.
Designed as a high-altitude, Impenetrable, self-sustaining city, this 15th-century fort built by Rana Kumbha of Mewar is renowned for a 36-kilometre-long wall - second only to the Great Wall of China - earning it the moniker ‘Great Wall of India’. It is also the birthplace of Maharana Pratap, one of Rajasthan’s most courageous rulers. Within its fortified expanse lie over 300 temples, reservoirs, massive gates, intricate pathways - built to confuse and deter enemy armies - stepwells and palaces that offer sweeping views of the surrounding Aravalli hills. The fort’s light & sound show is a nightly 45-minute spectacle showcasing the history of Mewar, featuring narration, music and dramatic lighting on the Aravalli hills.
